Interestingly, the basis for each of these paintings —now in growing format of 70x40cm— is Pedro himself. Most of these are self-inspired portraits, sketched in front of a mirror, yet mixed with traces from the people in his life. One could say the evolution of these portraits work as a sort of reflective timely biography. A experimental projection of himself onto others and of others onto himself.
I adore these.
Clear plate and the most detailed miniature of myself I have ever painted.
It’s an attempt at transparency in a portrait (hence the plate) and I have painted on both sides to give the viewer as information much as possible. The thing is, you are still only seeing me how I want you to and I can never fully represent myself in just one painting.
This is a precious piece; giving life to an otherwise mundane plate.
I’m just really happy with this one so it gets main blog attention too!
Today’s half-portrait.
I aim to finish this oil painting tomorrow before going on to add a forward facing one to the right side of the plate.
most proud of that ear
I’ve made loads of these Christmas Cards and painted all the robins by hand just for you!
